Discuss the solubility of solids, liquids and gases in water.

The substances which completely dissolve or disappear are said to be soluble in water.
Many solids, liquids and gases are soluble in water but not all.

Examples of Solid which are soluble include salt , sugar , glucose etc  whereas solids like chalk, sand do not dissolve in water.
Similarly liquids like  vinegar , lemon juice , alcohol are soluble in water. On the other hand liquids like kerosene oil , mustard oil etc when mixed in water do not dissolve , they form separate layer in water. Such liquids are said to be insoluble in water.
And in case of gases are soluble in water and some are not. For eg ammonia is soluble  in water but the gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide are only partially soluble.
