Q5. A uniform metre scale of mass 80 g is to be balanced at the 70 cm mark. Find from where must a mass of 60 g be suspended to do so.
(Ans. 96.66 cm)
Dear Student ,
Answer/Solution:
Mass of the metre scale, M = 80 g; = .08 Kg;
This mass balance at 70 cm;
Calculate, from where mass 60 g would be balanced = ?
As per the rule,
0.08 x 70 = 0.06 x Balance point
Balance point = 560/6
Balance point = 93.3 cm;
If 60g suspended then, the balance point of the scale is 93.3 cm .
