Does the energy of an object remain conserved which is falling towards the earth but is not undergoing free fall because of air resistance?

Dear Student,
Total energy of an object always remains conserved. Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can change from one form to another. However, the total mechanical energy of the object free falling in presence of air resistance will not be conserved. The potential energy of the object cannot be converted completely into kinetic energy. Some part of the energy will be lost in the form of heat energy due to the air friction. Mechanical energy is conserved while free fall under gravity without any air resistance.
