During electroplating there are two electrodes

what is "cathode" and "anode"

Anode is made up of impure metals where oxidation takes place while cathode is a pure thin metal rod where reduction takes place.

cathode is the negative electrode .

anode is the positive electrode .

like my ans.

cathode is the electrode which is connected to the negative terminal whereas anode is the electrode connected to the positive terminal of the battery to pass electric current through it.

plz give me a thumbs up!!!

OF COURSE , CATHODE IS THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL AND ANODE THE POSITIVE TERMINAL . BUT THE QUESTION IS DURING AN ELECROPLATING . SO , THE ANSWER IS THAT THE CATHODE IS THE OBJECT TO BE ELECTROPLATED AND THE ANODE IS THEMETAL TO BE USED FOR COATING .

Cathode is the negative electrode in electrolytic cell and a positive electrode in galvanic cell at which the reduction reaction takes place

Anode is the positive electrode in electrolytic cell and a negative electrode in galvanic cell at which the oxidation reaction takes place

the electrode from which electricity enters an electrolytic solution is called cathode.the electrode from which electricity leaves an electrolytic solution is called anode.
