effects and causes of osteoporosis


Osteoporosis (or porous bone) is a disease in which bones become weak and, therefore, are more likely to break. It is mostly caused by calcium deficiency in the diet. It can be cured by taking diet rich in calcium, by doing regular exercise etc.

Two main reasons for osteoporosis:
1. Low level of estrogen in females after attaining menopause.
2. Improper lifestyle lacking exercise and developing unhealthy eating habits.

It affects the bones of an individual and hinders the normal locomotory abilities.
1. The structure and strength of bones are affected which it highly susceptible to fractures, singularly in the spine, hip, and wrists.
2. Bone density is decreased.
