a. UAE has been making concerted and continuous efforts in order to bring about preservation of environment and in treading the path of sustainable development.
b. In 2010, UAE , called for its vision 2021, in which it identified strategies and programmes for socio economic growth
c. One of the important aspects of the vision has been with regard to " sustainable development" which aims to preserve resources for future generation and optimally utilise the existing resources
d. As per this, UAE strives to tap non conventional sources of energy , use alternate sources.
e. The country also aims to mitigate pollution, increase the forest cover, use clean energy and also preserve water resources.
f. It is also in the process of developing its many cities in sustainable manner.' For instance, Masdar city in Abu Dhabi is indeed one of the planned projects and an eco city of UAE.
g. The city has been designed by Fosters and Partners and has successfully combined with increased population, industrialisation , urbanisation with sustainable development
h. We may give example of how it has been making use of solar energy. UAE has the permanent headquarters of International Renewable energy agency
i. It is also in the process of installing geothermal energy plant, also involved in the construction the first hydrogen-fuelled power plant by using fossil fuels.
j. Thus , it is involved in fulfilling its needs by suing renewable form of energy and green technology.
