Explain any three difficulties faced by people in a non-democratic country.

The difficulties faced by people in a non-democratic country are as follows:

  • Absence of political freedom as people do not have the right to choose their representatives. It also hinders peaceful tranfer of power.
  • Rulers are not accountable to the people for their decisions and power is exercised by unelected leaders or armed forces
  • People do not have the right to protest or form political organisations as dissenting opinion is not allowed to be published or circulated

A democracy allows certain freedoms to its people like freedom of speech, expression, action etc. Dissent is allowed and tolerated to a certain level. In non democratic (autocracies and dictatorships) these are not possible.Free discussion on state matters are not allowed and the rule of law (if any) are ruthlessly implemented, without any concern for natural justice. Only drawback in a democratic set up is that there is more discussion and protests than decisions and decision making is unduly delayed or prolonged, resulting in waste of time, cost escalation and delay in reaping the benefit of the proposed mprovements........
