explain delayed sunset and advanced sunrise.... why does it happen( give proper reason).....

plz help.....

the apperent shift in the directionn of sun from its original direction is 0.5 degree and the time difference b?W actual sunrise and apparent sunrise is 2 minutes. this makes the sun visible 2 mins. before it comes out of the horizon ie. advanced sunrise . the same result is obtained during the sunset. the sun can be seen upto 2 mins. of its actual setting.ie.delayed sunrise.thus the day appears to belonger than 4 mins.

hope u understand from concept

thanx

but what's the reason??????

  • -3

due to atmospheric refraction.

  • -7

this is clear from above that the reason is phonmenon of atmospheric refraction

due to atmos. ref. we cant see observe the actual posiotion of sun except only the sun is over head

Sun can be seen about two minutes before actual sunrise because of refraction of sunlight through the atmosphere. When the sun is just below the horizon, sunlight enters the earth's atmosphere obliquely and gets refracted through the different layers of the atmosphere. As a result of this, sunlight gets bent and reaches the eyes of an observer. Following the path of the light rays entering the eyes, the observer sees the sun slightly above its actual position. As a result of this, sun can be seen about two minutes before the actual sunrise

Why the colour of sun is red during sun rise and sun set

  • -4

The Sun is visible to us about 2 minutes before the actual sunrise, and about 2 minutes after the actual sunset because of atmospheric refraction. By actual sunrise, we mean the actual crossing of the horizon by the Sun. The time difference between actual sunset and the apparent sunset is about 2 minutes. The apparent flattening of the Sun’s disc at sunrise and sunset is also due to the same phenomenon.

y is d colour of d sun red during sunrise and sunset??

  • -5
We know red light is scattered least. During sunset and sunrise, when the sunlight passes through air molecules present in the atmosphere to reach us, these molecules scatter blue light. so, only the red light reaches the eye of the observer. This is why the sun appears red during sunset or sunrise.

Red light has maximum wavelength so it travel long distance than any other light so we see sun as red colour

 ADVANCE SUNRISE AND DELAYED SUNSET:
This is due to the refraction of light coming from the sun.Because when light comes from the sun it generally travel from rarer medium to denser medium i.e., it travels from space[vaccum] to the earth 's atmosphere[full of air].

Advanced sunrise:- it is due to that when the sun is below the horizon at that time the light from the sun enters to earth 's atmosphere from space at get refracted away from the normal line of sun and it causes advanced sunrise.

Delayed sunset:- it is due to the reason that when the sun goes below the horizon at that time the sun 's light pases from space to earth 's atmosphere and it again get refracted from the normal line of the sun and it causes the delayed sunset.

At noon, the sun scatter little blue and white light. Near the horizon most of the blue light and light with little frequency is scattered. Hence the light which reaches our eye is of longer wave length. Hence the sun is viewed red

The sun rises 2 min before the actual sunrise and set 2 min after the sunset. It is caused by refraction of light through different layers of atmosphere.

Advance sunrise and delayed sunset :The Sun is visible to us about 2 minutes before the actual sunrise, and about 2 minutes after the actual sunset because of atmospheric refraction. By actual sunrise, we mean the actual crossing of the horizon by the Sun. The time difference between actual sunset and the apparent sunset is about 2 minutes.  Due to atmospheric refraction there is apparent rise in the position of the Sun as depicted in the fig below.

The refraction of sunlight through the atmosphere.

At the time of sunrise when sun is below the horizon of the earth the sunlight travel from vaccum To earth atmosphere it means light is coming from rarer to denser medium and it bends towards the normal because of atmospheric refraction. That's the reason why sun rise earlier and late sunset is seen

Sunrise and sunset is actually the crossing of horizon by the sun . The advanced sunrise and delayed sunset is due to atmospheric refraction the difference between the actual sunset and apparent sunset is two minutes. The flattering of suns disc is also due this phenomena.

During sunrise, when the sun is just below the horizon, our atmosphere causes the light rays to bend and we see the sun early. Similarly, at sunset, the apparent position of the sun is visible to us and not the actual position due to the same bending of light rays effect.

To sum up, due to refraction we see the sun rise about two minutes before it’s actually there and during sunset we see it for around two minutes more, even though it has already moved from that position.

The sun is visible to us about two minutes before the actual sunrise and about two minutes after sunset because of atmospheric refraction. When the sun is slightly below the horizon, the sun rays travel from less dense to more dense air and hence bends as it bends towards the normal each time, making it appear raised.
Similarly, due to atmospheric refraction, the sun can be seen for about two minutes after it sets below the horizon.

The sunrise is advanced due to atmospheric refraction of sunlight. An observer on the earth sees the sun two minutes before the sun reaches the horizon. A ray of sunlight entering the earth’s atmosphere follows a curved path due to atmospheric refraction before reaching the earth. This happens due to a gradual variation in the refractive index of the atmosphere. For the observer on the earth, the apparent position of the sun is slightly higher than the actual position. Hence, the sun is seen before the sun reaches the horizon.Increased atmospheric refraction of sunlight occurs also at the sunset. In this case, the observer on the earth continues to see the setting sun for two minutes after the sun has dipped below the horizon, thus delaying the sunset.

We can see the sun 2 min before the actual sunrise and 2 min after the actual sunset. Before and after sunrise and sunset resp. the sun is at the horizon which is the largest distance from the earth. The sun rays fall obliquely in earth's atmosphere and travel from rare to denser medium experiencing multiple refraction the sun rays bent towards the normal and reaches the eyes of the observer. Following the path of sunlight the observer see the sun slightly above the horizon

Actual sunsets when it is below the horizon in the evening.the rays of light from the sun below the horizon reach our eyes because of refraction of light.these rays appear to come from apparent position of sun which is above the horizon .hence sun can be seen abt 2mins before it actually rises and similarly 2mins even after it has actually set. Thus we gain abt 4mins of additional day light each day

THE ANSWERS GIVEN FIRST ARE CORRECT!!!!!!!!

pls give the answer of only reason for delayed sunset......
  • -1
the reason for advanced sunset is when the sun is slightly below the horizon, light rays coming from the sun travel from the rarer to he denser layer of air. because of atmospheric refraction of light ,light appears to come from a higher position above the horizon.the sun appears earlier than actual sunrise
