There are two types of fisheries

Marine fisheries – they are fish catching areas near the sea shore or back water, coastal areas. Few important fishes are pearl oyster, Solomon, tuna etc.

Inland fisheries – deals with fishes of pond, lakes and river. Examples of fishes are rohu, catla.
