Explain inclination of the earth’s axis with the help of a diagram

Dear Student ,

The earth has an imaginary axis on which it spins . This axis passes through the centre of the Earth. The axis of the Earth is inclined at an angle of 23.5 degrees from the vertical . This inclination of the earth's axis causes the variation in the length of days and nights on earth. Also , the change of the seasons is due to the inclined axis of the earth.
If the axis of the Earth was not inclined, then at every place on the Earth there would be 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night throughout the year. Also, if the Earth’s axis were vertical i.e. 90 degrees , then there would be no seasons. Thus , the inclination of axis on which the earth rotates holds a great significance.

Regards.

Earth is tilted at 23.5 degrees. Due to this inclination, there is variation in length of day and night with the change in seasons with the rotation of the earth around the sun.
