a. In 1888 Lahore Gate Improvement Scheme was planned by Robert Clarke for the Walled City residents, which was an extension scheme
b. Under this scheme, the residents were moved away from the old city and the city was restructured in the square shaped around which shops were constructed
c. Streets were constructed in a grid pattern with similar width, size and nature , this gave symmetry to the area.
d. Land was to be divided into regular areas.
e. The ares came to be known as Clarkegunj, but it remained incomplete and the idae really did not help in decogeting the old city
