Explain the mechanism of hormone action when the cell is provided with water
Dear student.
If a cell is provided with water, ADH will bind to the receptors present on the cell located in the collecting duct of kidney, in order to promote the reabsorption of water.
The distal portion of the nephron is responsible for the re-absorption of water. This function is controlled by the ADH, which is secreted by the pituitary gland. Dehydration of the body by heavy sweating stimulates the pituitary gland to produce ADH which increases the re-absorption of water.
Regards.
