Explain the right answer

Q30. A small portion of cane-sugar stem between the two successive nodes is cut off and sown in the soil normally. New plants will

        (a) be formed normally                                           (b) not be formed

        (c) be without juice                                                 (d) without nodes

Dear student
Please find below the solution to the asked query

The correct option is (b).

The nodes present on the stem are the regions of meristematic activity and contain meristematic cells which develop roots and shoots after sowing stem cuttings in soil. Hence, when stem is cut without nodes the new plants will not be formed.
