Explain

  1. Why is the foundation of a building made very wide, as compared to its walls?

high rise buildings have very high weight and thus to decrease the pressure exerted by the building on the ground the foundation is made very wide

We know that Pressure is inversely proportional to area.

So, smaller area will exert more pressure, thus the foundation ofbuildings, which are heavier than walls are made wide so that is doesn't exert too much force on the ground and penetrate into it.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS ARE WIDE.THIS REDUCES THE PRESSURE OF THE BUILDING ON THE GROUND.
