given : total frequency = 200

$x + y + 86 = 200 x + y = 200 - 86 x + y = 114................ (1)$

and mean of the distribution = 1.46

$\frac{\sum f * X}{\sum f} = 1.46 \frac{x + 2 y + 140}{200} = 1.46 x + 2 y + 140 = 200 * 1.46 = 292 x + 2 y = 292 - 140 x + 2 y = 152........... (2)$

from (1) and (2):

y=152-114

y=38

x+y=114

x=114-38=76
