Functions of parts of reproductive system

Ovary: It is the primary reproductive organ and performs dual function.

 1. Production of female gamete called ovum.

 2. Secretion of female sex hormones namely estrogen and progesterone.

Fallopian Tube : Carry ova or eggs from the ovary to uterus. Fertilization occurs in fallopian tubes.

Uterus: Embryo develops within the uterus.

Vagina: It receives the sperms from the male and also serves as the passage through which the fully developed foetus is born. It is called as birth canal.
