Here the work done is said to be zero, as the displacement is not there but the coolie does move the load upwards so should that not be considered as displacement. So then the work would be nom zero

Solution
This is because the coolie applies force against the force of gravity which acts in a vertically downward direction and displacement of load takes place in a horizontal direction hence angle between displacement and force becomes 90°.

Work done=F.s
=Fs cos θ
Here work and displacement are perpendicular hence  θ=90
Since cos 90 = 0

  • 0
As we know,
Work done=F.s
=Fscosx
Here work and displacement are perpendicular hence x=90
Since cos90 =0
Therfore work done will be zero
  • 1
