Hey experts plz help, differences between petals and petaloid sepals.

Dear student,

The difference between the petal and petaloid sepal is that petals are the brightly coloured accessory whorls of a flower which helps in reproduction by attracting insects for pollination whereas the calyx and corolla together join to form an undifferentiated perianth. If the perianth is colourful like the petals then it is called a petaloid.

Petal is among the non-essential whorls of the flower .Petals are bright in colour and they basically attract insects for pollination, generally in a cross-pollinated flower.

Petaloid is the term given to he condition where perianth is non-green. perianth is the case when petals and sepals appear to be undifferentiated in a flower

Petals are some colourful whorls of a flower while a petaloid sepal is when the petals are green like the sepals.Hence basically the differentiation is apt between the colours.
