hi,I have a doubt. A female reproductive system produces egg once in a month and an ovum can live for 12-24 hours thus on the day or next day after ovum is produced it dies. So, if the male gamete-sperm enters the female body before the ovum is again produced then the fertilization will take place after one month(i.e.when ovum will be released)???

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

A female reproductive system produces egg once in a month and an ovum can live for 12-24 hours. So, for a successful fertilisation, a lot of sperms need to be ready to attack this egg at the time of its release. It is a chance event i.e meeting of sperm and release of egg at the same time.
If the sperm has entered the body but egg has degenerated, then there will be no fertilisation and this sperm will also die.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the topic.
