Hlo experts,
Plz answer..

Dear student,

Thermal decomposition reactions are those decomposition reactions that are brought about by heat. Thus, a chemical substance decomposes when heated.

The thermal decomposition reaction of magnesium nitrate is as follows-

2 Mg(NO3)2 → 2 MgO + 4 NO2 + O2

Dear student,

Any nitrate in which the metal is in bivalent or trivalent state decomposes on heating to its oxide, nitrogen dioxide and free oxygen.

Magnesium nitrate on thermal decomposition yields magnesia (MgO) as the residue, together with copious fumes of reddish brown nitrogen dioxide and oxygen gas as the two gaseous products.

2Mg(NO3)2 = 2MgO + 4NO2 + O2

This is exactly similar to the more familiar thermal decomposition of lead nitrate
