How are dead cells produced

Dear Student,

Dead cells are the cells which do not posses nucleus and cytoplasm. These cells do not contribute in the functionality of the system. In plants they are meant for support and conduction. When the living cells lose their protoplasm, they become dead cells.
Example of dead cells are xylem fibres, tracheids and vessels, hair shaft, etc.

To maintain organismal homeostasis, phagocytes engulf?dead cells, which are recognized as?dead?by virtue of a characteristic ?eat me? signal exposed on their surface. The?dead cells?are then transferred to lysosomes, where their cellular components are degraded for reuse.
