how does cytokinesis differ in plant cell from animal cell

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Cytokinesis in plants occur by the formation of cell plate. The cell plate start its formation from the centre and proceeds towards the lateral walls. It is better described as centrifugal formation of cell plate.
In animals, the process of cytokinesis takes place by cleavage furrow. The cleavage furrow start deepening from the the periphery towards the centre and finally meet at the centre. It is described as centripetal furrow formation.

A contractile ring is a ring of actin filaments below the cell membrane that constricts the middle of a dividing animal cell to complete cell division. The cell plate is the area where the new cell membrane and cell wall form between dividing plant cells during cytokinesis.
