How does the pressure of a liquid depend on its depth? Draw a labelled diagram to show that the pressure of a liquid depends on its depth. Answer by MERITNATION EXPERTS ONLY please.

Dear Student,

Liquids exert pressure on wall of its container.

The pressure exerted by liquid depends upon its density and height or depth of the container.

mathematically...

where..

density of liquid,

g = acceleration due to gravity

h = height of liquid from the surface.

i.e.For a given liquid greater the height of liquid or depth of container, more will be its pressure.

  • The following diagram shows equal pressure exerted by the liquid at the given depth in all directions:
  • As the pressure is same in all directions, the velocity of efflux through the holes and the range of liquid on the ground is equal in all directions.
