how is poaching and hunting of animals affecting their existence

Dear Student

Poaching refers to illegal hunting of animals, whether for killing or captivity. Poaching is either carried out because of subsistence or for economic benefits for selling hides, skins, nails, teeth, horns etc.

It reduces the number of animals.
Say, If a predator, like wolves or mountain lions, are hunted to lower numbers, their prey often increase in number.

 Poaching should be banned because:
  • It is responsible for diminishing number of animals, especially those belonging to the endangered species category.
  • Poachers employ cruel methods of killing
  • Poaching reduces the space of the protected areas
  • It enhances the risk of spread of zoonotic diseases that spread from non -humans to humans.
