how many type of shape of cell

In our body different types of cells have different functions. Their shapes and sizes are made suitable for the type of work they perform. For example, nerve cells have long axons and dendrites to transmit signals, red blood cells are disc shaped so that they can get arranged one beside another when flowing through very thin capillaries. Heart cells contain huge number of mitochondria because huge amount of energy is required for pumping blood. Thus there are different types of cells on the basis of its shape in our body to perform all sort of activities perfectly.
