how to separate dal from water

1. Dal in water (when uncooked) is an example of suspension solution and can be separated by using simple physical methods such as by using a strainer (utensil commonly used in kitchen).
2. Simply pour the heterogeneous mixture of dal and water in the strainer, the pores of stainer are small enough to pass water through it but it does not allow dal to pass through.

You can use the method of sedimentation.Because the dal is denser than water the dal settles down in water. And then decantation. After the  sediment-dal settles down carefully por out the water without disturbing the dal.
