How to understand which is artery and vein when the arrows are not given?

Dear student,
In general, veins and arteries are differentiated from each other on the basis of arrows to denote the direction of blood flow and/or the color of the given blood vessels. In urinary system, inferior vena cava is shown towards left of the image and the abdominal aorta is shown to the right side. So, in given image, 1 is inferior vena cava while 2 is abdominal aorta. This makes 3 the left renal artery and 4 the left renal vein.
Regards.
