how will carbon react with oxygen? what happens when the product is dissolved in water?

show along with equations. !!

Hi,
@Aditi, Good effort. However I wish to mention that carbon dioxide dissolves in water to form carbonic acid.

Carbon is a non-metal. And we know that, non metals react with oxygen to give their oxides which are acidic in nature. So carbon reacts with oxygen to give carbon dioxide and a large amount of heat energy if there is large amount of oxygen. The chemical equation representing reaction of carbon with oxygen is as follows:

Hope this answers your query,

Best wishes!

carbon reacting with oxygen can give products on the basis of atoms of oxygen present in the reaction..... like carbon mono oxide or carbon di oxide etc. the product cant dissolve in water
