how will carbon react with oxygen? what happens when the product is dissolved in water?
show along with equations. !!
Hi,
@Aditi, Good effort. However I wish to mention that carbon dioxide dissolves in water to form carbonic acid.
Carbon is a non-metal. And we know that, non metals react with oxygen to give their oxides which are acidic in nature. So carbon reacts with oxygen to give carbon dioxide and a large amount of heat energy if there is large amount of oxygen. The chemical equation representing reaction of carbon with oxygen is as follows:
Hope this answers your query,
Best wishes!
