how will you show that aluminium is more reactive than iron

'Aluminium is more reactive than Iron' can be proved by taking the example of the Thermite reaction. This is an exothermic displacement reaction in which, aluminium and iron(III) oxide react and the products formed are aluminium oxide and elemental iron in the molten state. This is because aluminium forms stronger bonds with oxygen than iron since it is more reactive.

Fe2O3 + 2 Al → 2 Fe + Al2O3

This reaction is used for welding purposes as molten iron condenses in the crack to join it.

in recative series aluminium come first and then iron comes

AIM :- To show that aluminium is more reactive than Iron

MATERIALS REQUIRED:- Aluminium strip, Iron sulphate solution, beaker.

Procedure :- Take some Iron Sulphate solution in a beaker.

Add the Aluminium strip in the above solution.

Leave the apparatus undisturbed for about 30 minutes.

OBSERVATION: We will observe that the colour of the solution turns colourless from pale green. ALso,we will observe that iron deposits on the aluminium strip.

CONCLUSION: The colour of the solution change to colourless because of the formation of Aluminium sulphate.

Iron is also formed. This can displacement can occur only if aluminium is more reactive than iron.

simply, according to the reactivity series KNaCa MAZIL

A-aluminium,i-iron

after aluminium only iron comes, so i convey that aluminium is reactive than iron.
