If a body falls from a height, bounces from ground and again goes upwards with loss of a part of its energy,
(i) How will its PE change?
(ii) What are the various energy conversions taking place?
(iii) What will be its ultimate energy?

(i) Its potential energy decreases while falling on to the ground, then increases during the bounce. But, the final potential energy after the bounce is lesser than the initial potential energy at the beginning of fall since there is a loss of part of its energy.

(ii) During fall  -- Potential energy change to kinetic energy,  During upward motion after the bounce  --  Kinetic energy changes to potential energy

(iii)  Ultimate energy  --  Finally, after several bounces, the body comes to rest on reaching the ground by changing its potential energy into other forms like heat and sound.
