if a man jumps out from a boat , the boat moves backwards . why?

newton's third law of motion states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

in this case , when the man jumps out of the boat, it exerts force on the boat. this is the action.

as a reaction, the boat exerts an equal force on the man. thus, the boat moves backward and we are able to move forward.

newton 's third law of motion states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

so, when a man jumps out of a boat, he exerts a force backward on the boat to get an equal force on himslef so that he can jump out.

so the boat moves backward and he moves forwards.

hope it helps!!

cheers@!!!

thumbs up plzzz...

When a man jumps out of a boat to the bank of the river ( or lake ), the boat moves backward away from him.

  • This is due to the fact that to step out of the boat, the man presses the boat with foot in the backward direction. The push of the man on the boat is the action ( force). The boat exerts an equal force on the man in the forward direction which enables him to move forward. This force exerted on the man is reaction ( force ).

Since the boat is floating on the water and not fixed, it moves backward due to the action force exerted by man.

Hope this helps !

due to third law of motion, when the man moves out of the boat he push the boat in backward direction(action) the boat exert an equal and opposite force on the man in forward direction (reaction)since the boat moves backward due to action force exertrd by man.

This is due to the fact that to step out of the boat , the man presses the boat with his foot in backward direction . The push of the man on the boat is the action . The boat exerts an equal force on the man in the forward direction which enables him to move forward . This force exerted by the boat on man is  reaction . Since the boat is floating on water and is not fixed , it moves backward due to the action force exerted by man .

As per newton's third law every action has an equal and opposite reaction. When we jump feom a boat we exert force(action) on the boat and the boat moves backward (reaction) and we move forward.

the force exerted by the man pushes the boat back like newtons 3rd law of motion each and every action has an equal and opposite reaction

when a man jumps the boat moves back because the man applies force and due to the force the boat goes back  it is an example of newtons third law of motion every action has an equal and opposite reaction

When a man jumping in the boat moves backward because the man aaplies force and due to the force the boat get back & it is due to also newtons third law of motion .
  • -7
When we push boat in backward direction it must come in forward direction. Actually it doesn't happen.Boat goes in backward direction. It is because when we apply apply action on the boat the produced reaction isnt sufficient enough to come in forward direction.
  • -4
according to newton's third law of motion:"equal and opposite reaction".when the man jumps out then he apply some force on boat, then the boat apply the same amout of force on him which pushes the man forward and the boat moves backward..if yet any queries then you can visit:

when a sailor jumps out of a boat his feet exerts a force on the boat ( action) in the backward direction.By Newton's 3rd law of motion the boat applies an equal and opposite force (reaction) on the feet of the sailor. *when one object exerts a force on another object, the second object instantaneously exerts a force back on the first. These two forces are always equal in magnitude but opposite in direction. These forces act on different objects and never on the same object*

When a sailor jumps out of a rowing boat , the force on the boat moves it backwards. For a more easy explanation you can see this example and relate it to your asked question..??

If a man jumps out from a boat then the boat moves backwards because of the application of Newton's third law of motion.

If the man steps out of the boat, ?then he exerts pressure on the boat which is the action as well as the boat then applies an equal force on the man and moves backward(reaction) to enable him to move forward.

According to Newton's third law of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the man jumps from a boathe applies force on the boat due to which boat moves backward. An equal force is exerted by the boat on the man which helps the man to jump out of the boat.

It's because of the newton's third law of motion that is every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So the boat will move with the same magnitude but in the opposite direction and hence we can say that it will move in the backward direction.
  • 0
This is because of Newton's third law of motion. Over here when the man exerts force on the boat (action) the boat react to that force (reaction)
Every action have a equal and opposite reaction. This is the third law of motion.

If a man jumps out from a boat, the boat moves backward because when the man steps out of the boat, he exerts pressure on the boat in the backward direction. This pushes the boat backward. Also, an equal and opposite force is responsible for the force in the forward direction.
