If you are using MS Word to write the speech, you need to highlight the total content and the total number of words you have typed would be mentioned on the bottom left side of the document.
However, if the speech is handwritten then you have to physically count the number of words. One of the shortcut methods to get the approximate number of words, is to count the number of words written in the first sentence and then multiply it by the number of lines you have written. For example the number of words written in first line is 10 and you have written 70 lines then the approximate word count would be 700.
