Where the narrator and her mother lived , the situation of war was prevailing. Mrs. Dorling had convinced Mrs.S that due to the ravages of war all their precious possessions may get destroyed. Mrs. S being an innocent and meek lady believed Mrs. Dorling and gave her all her possessions.
