In groups of four,discuss the following lines and their meanings.

Tothe brightest thoughts in your head

(ii) For many of theloveliest things

Havenever yet been said

(iii) And everyone’slonging today to hear

Somefresh and beautiful thing

(iv) But only words canfree a thought

Fromits prison behind your eyes

(i) The poetsays that English is a wonderful language and that in order toexpress our thoughts, we must put them into words.

(ii) The poetfeels that one must use words to express the thoughts because many ofthe loveliest and sweetest things might never have been said tillnow. Many times people do not know how to say what they feel and thepoet says that one must not let his thoughts die for he should put itin the best words and bring them forward as it could turn out to beone of the loveliest things.

(iii) The poetsays that we keep on hearing the same thoughts that have beenexpressed before also. Therefore, everybody needs a change ofthoughts. They are longing to hear some fresh and beautiful thingimplying something new and different.

(iv) The poetsays that when we look at something, our mind creates a thought.However, it stands lost behind our eyes as we do not put it intowords and it does not gain its freedom. Therefore, the poet suggestsfor everyone to put those thoughts into words and give themexpression, so that they do not die after staying bound in the prisonbehind our eyes.
