Q15. If the median of 5, 9, 11, 3, 4, x, 8 is 6, find the value of x.

       Sol. Arranging in ascending order, 3, 4, 5, x, 8, 9, 11,

                Here n = 7 which is odd.

            $$\begin{gathered} \therefore \mathrm{Median} = {\frac{n +1}{2}}^{\mathrm{th}} \mathrm{term} =\frac{7+1}{2}= 4^{\mathrm{th}} \mathrm{term} = x \\ \therefore \mathrm{But} \mathrm{median} = 6 \\ \therefore x = 6 \end{gathered}$$
