In thermodynamics under state variables, :(no. Of moles) is not included? Why? Only p,V,T are included?
State variables are those, whose values define the state function, and change in state variable, changes the state function.
But,no. of moles is not a state variable ,since change in no. of moles does not alter the state function. For e.g free energy is a state function, whose value is in KJ/mole o .
So,if we say, to burn 1 mole of carbon,-200 KJ/mole free energy is released.
and,to burn 2 mole of carbon
So,the value of state function does not change.
