In triangle ABC,

DE IIBC (Given)

As we know that if a line drawn from any 2 sides of a triangle such that it is parallel to the third side then the third side will be half of the parallel line.

= 1/2 BC = DE

= BC = 2DC

= BC = 2* 4

= 8 cm

Then by CPST ( corresponding parts of similar triangle ), AB/AD = BC/DE

5/2 = BC/3

BC = 15/2
