is term clone aaplicable to offspring formed by vegetative propagation ?

Vegetative propagation is a mode of asexual reproduction in which new plants are obtained from the vegetative parts of plants. It does not involve the production of seeds or spores for the propagation of new plants. Vegetative parts of plants such as runners, rhizomes, suckers, tubers, etc. can be used as propagules for raising new plants.

As a result, the offsprings so produced are morphologically and genetically similar to their parents and are thus, called clones.

no, the term clone is applicable to asexual reproduction as well because the offspring produced is genetically nd morphologically identical to the parent.

sryyyyy :(

in the case of vegetative propagation we produce hybrid plants of desired genes and try to mutate and cause variation amongst the species so the term cloning in not applicable..

hope it helped.

clone is an organism that is genetically and morphologically similar to the parent. Offspring formed by vegetative reproduction are identical to the parent, so, yes, they should be clones.
