a. India is an example of holding together federation where the country decided to create constituent units and divide powers between the centre and the states.
b. India emerged independent under extremely difficult circumstances, the Partition of the country on religious lines followed by a wake communal riots, violence necessitated the need for a strong centre. e. Being a disputed region, There are many provisions of the Indian constitution which can only be applied provided they are ratified by Jammu and Kashmir's assembly. The state has its own constitution, its own law on citizenship.
i. Besides that, North eastern states, Himachal Pradesh and Utthrakhand are under special category states as these states have hilly terrain, have international borders thus they get special economic assistance from the centre in terms of grants
j.These states have been characterised by economic and infrastructure backwardness and underdevelopment
