Make a comparision between the two great emperors – Samudragupta and Harshavardhana taking into account their similarities and differences.

Similarities between Samudragupta and ​ Harshavardhana

a. Both
 ​ Harshavardhana  ​and Samudragupta ​were abled ruler and administrator.

b. Both  Harshvardhana's ans Samudragupta's  kingdom were a model of charity, generosity and public service.

c. Both believed in conquests and expansion policies which helped them to expand kingdom.

d. Both were strong warriors and had military skills.


Differences 
between Samudragupta and ​ Harshavardhana

a. Harshavardhana was a religious tolerant who followed the path of Ashoka and 
maintained impartial toleration towards the other religions, especially Buddhism. Samudragupta on the other hand was a staunch follower of his religion who did not believed or supported other religions. His social ideas were responsible for the rise of caste system.

b. 
Harshavardhana bestowed and supported kindness towards animals along with honouring the Hindu gods. But, Samudragupta sacrificed animals such as horses to strengthen the position of Brahmans and to throw a poerful impact of them in society. He forced other kings to accept his domination and supremacy by practising Yajna.
