Manisha has a garden in the shape of a rhombus. The perimeter of the garden is 40m and one of its diagonal is 16m. She wants to divide it into two equal parts and use these equal parts for growing vegetables and wheat separately. Find the area of each part of the garden.

since, 4*side = perimeter of rhombus

Or, 4*side = 40

Or, side = 40/4

So, side =10m

Now, Let abcd be a rhombus in which ab=bc=cd=da=10 and ac =16

So, in triangle abc,

s= a+b+c/2

= 10+10+16/2

= 36/2

= 18

So, area = root over s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

= root over 18 (18-10)(18-10)(18-16)

= root over 18*8*8*2

= 8 root over 3*3*2*2

= 8*3*2

= 48 m square

Since, the diagonal of rhombus divides it into two equal halves

So, triangle abc = triangle acd = 48 m square
