Pericardium-
- Location- The pericardium is the fluid filled sac that surrounds the heart and the proximal ends of the aorta, vena cava, and pulmonary artery.
- Functions- The pericardium has several functions-
- It keeps the heart contained in the chest cavity.
- The pericardium also prevents the heart from over-expanding when blood volume increases.
- Location- Cristae are the folded structure or inward projection present in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
- Functions- They help to increase the surface area of the mitochondrial membrane and in the synthesis of ATP.
