No, mesophyll cells and guard cells are different.

Mesophyll cells are the specialized cells present within a leaf, below the epidermal layer. As shown in the figure below, mesophyll contains chloroplasts which are the actual sites of photosynthesis.


Guard cells are the cells found in the epidermis of the leaf. They surround stomata and helps in regulating transpiration by opening and closing of stomata.
