MICROORGANISMS ARE USED FOR THE LARGE SCALE PRODUCTION OF ALCOHOL,WINE AND ACETIC ACID . X IS USED FOR COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION OF ALCOHOL AND WINE. THE PROCESS OF CONVERSION OF SUGAR INTO ALCOHOL IS KNOWN AS FERMENTATION.

A) WHAT IS X HERE ? OTHER THAN YEAST.AND EXPLAIN THE PROCESS

In fermentation, apart from yeasts we also require sugar or starch for the preparation of wine and alcohol. Commercially in alcohol production flour of grains or molasses are used as a source of starch. In wine supply of glucose comes from grapes. When yeast is added to the starch, it starts anaerobic respiration which in turn produces alcohol and carbon dioxide as byproduct. Wine and other forms of alcohol are also prepared with the same principle.
