There are 3 kinds of ration cards:

(a) Antyodaya cards for poorest of the poor;(b) BPLcard for those below poverty line;and(c) APL card for all others.

35 kg of grains, 5 litres of kerosene, 5 kgs of sugar. It was introduced in the 1940s. It was revived in the wake of an acute shortage in 1960s prior to the Green Revolution
