Name the method used to separate oil from water
Oil and water are immiscible liquids that is they do not mix with each other. Hence, they can be separated by sedimentation and decantation. When a mixture of oil and water is allowed to stand for some time, two separate layers are formed. Oil being lighter forms the top layer, while water being heavier forms the bottom layer. Oil can be separated by decantation.
However, a more useful method for separating oil and water is with the help of separating funnel, about which you will study in grade 9.
