Name the type of elements which constitute A bands, that is dark bands of stiriated muscle fibres.
Dear Student
The straited appearance of the muscle fiber is created by a pattern of alternating dark A bands and light I bands.
The dark bands also referred as the A band (Anisotropic band) are formed by slightly thicker Myosin contractile proteins which give it a dark appearance under electron microscope. while as light bands are formed by thinner Actin protein.
Since myosin is a protein, it is made up of polypeptide chains. These polypeptide chains are further composed of amino acids.
So, the basic elements of A-bands are amino acids.
