'Often the test of courage is not to die but to live'. Comment with reference to the lesson 'Deep Water'.

Dear Student
If the physical strength would be the necessary condition for winning in life, then perhaps, weak wouldn't have ever won. The strength of the weak people comes from their do or die spirit, determination and courage to do whatever it takes to achieve the goal. The narrator of Deep Water lacks a strong physical build up but he is intent on learning how to swim. Not only to swim but to remove even a tinge of the terrible experience of getting drowned. He just wanted to get rid of the haunting terror. So, he arranged an instructor for himself and practised five days a week with him. He learnt swimming bit by bit with extreme patience. He was not satisfied till he got perfection in the art and courage to ask the terror, "Well Mr Terror, What do you think you can do to me?"
