On what principle does an electric heater work ??

An electric heater works based on the principle of heating effect of electric current.
When an electric current is passed through a conductor, heat is generated in it due to the opposition caused by the conductor to the flow of current. The work done to overcome this opposition to the current generates heat in the conductor.
In an electric heater ,a nichrome wire is used as a coil. When a current flows through the coil, it gets heated due to the high resistance of nichrome alloy.
