Out of her total income Mrs Sharma spends 20% on house rent and 70% of the rest on household expenditure. If she saves rs 1800, what is the total income?

 let the total income of mrs sharma be = x

70% of x + 20%of x = total expenditure

90%of x = ttl exp.

i.e. 100-90% of x =savings

 => 10% of x = 1800

=> x/10  = 1800

x = 1800 * 10

  = 18000 is her total income

let the total income be x

money spent on rent = 20% of x = x/5

now money left with her = x- x/5 = 4x/5

money spent on household = 70 % of  4x/5 = 28x/50

money left = ( 4x/5 ) - (28x/50) = 12x/50

according to the question  money left with her or u can say saving is rs 1800  ..... 

12x/50 = 1800 

now solve the equation -

12x = 1800*50

therefore,  x  =  90000 /12

  =  7500 (  total income )
